In a not so surprising twist, Sony has reversed course and will be offering a free upgrade to the PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West for players that purchase it on PS4. Previously, Sony had made the promise to do just that, but their blog post this past Thursday detailing the various special editions revealed that the upgrade was only possible if you bought one of those. The cheapest, the Deluxe Digital Edition, was priced at $79.99, a $20 markup over the base PS4 edition. The updated post also announced that going forward, future first party exclusives published by Sony will have a $10 PS5 upgrade option. A welcome addition to be sure, but still a little lacking when compared to Microsoft's Smart Delivery, where buying an Xbox One title will automatically net you the X|S version, provided it's available, at no extra cost. You can read the the Playstation blog post here.
